Tab meltdown

A GDI pool issue has generated a lot of comments on Mozilla's Bugzilla. It's actually reassuring to see that I'm not the only fool whose computer melts down when I open a few tabs. Opening about 10 tabs on this box is a sure prescription for disaster.

I can't really blame Mozilla here. Why does Windows have a fixed pool of memory for GDI references when the computer has so much memory? Seems a little anachronistic. Are we dealing with 386s here? You could argue that using three monitors is not what Microsoft had in mind. Are you happy using 1152x864 for the rest of your life? No? Me neither. I want 40,000 x 22,500 today. Eventually.
